Dana Philips, Communications Specialist
We are excited to introduce John and Christina Mix, our newest houseparents on the Portales campus. Their journey to this role is rooted in faith and a desire to make a difference in the lives of children.
Originally from Maryland, they moved to Albuquerque four years ago to care for a family member. What began as a temporary relocation became a new chapter filled with purpose. After learning about local ministries serving children, they felt called to step into this role and soon joined our team.
Together, they share a vision of creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can experience a sense of belonging, learn life skills, and grow in confidence and hope.
Their daily routine includes preparing meals, supporting school schedules and activities, helping with homework, and fostering meaningful connections through shared activities and evening devotions. They know that every day is different and are committed to meeting each moment with patience and care.
As they settle into their new role, John and Christina look forward to building strong relationships and helping every child feel valued and loved. We are thrilled to have them on board.
