On June 28, something truly special happened in Estancia. Friends, supporters, and staff of the New Mexico Baptist Children's Home came together to celebrate a beautiful milestone: the opening of our brand new campus. It was more than just an open house. It was a joyful gathering filled with laughter, gratitude, and a shared vision for the future of caring for children in need.
Guest from all across New Mexico joined us for the day. As they arrived, they were welcomed with warm smiles, refreshments, and the happy sounds of children playing. The atmosphere was full of connection and purpose, a reminder that when God's people come together, amazing things happen.
The new Estancia campus includes a cozy cottage where houseparents and children will live together as a family, and a multi-purpose building with office space and an indoor recreation area. It's a beautiful extension of our mission to serve children and families in the name of Jesus. While our original campus in Portales continues to thrive, this new location allows us to reach even more children with love, care, and hope.
This dream because a reality thanks to the generosity of the Central Baptist Association in Albuquerque, who gifted us the property. After years of prayer, planning, and hard work, the campus is now ready to welcome its first family.
During the open house, guest toured the home, imagining the lives that will be transformed within its walls. Each room was thoughtfully designed to create a sense of safety, comfort, and belonging. As people walked through, they paused to pray and write heartfelt notes of encouragement for the future houseparents and children. Some were prayers for protections. Others were filled with Scripture and words of hope. Every note was a beautiful reminder of the love and support behind this ministry.
While the campus is ready, there's still one important piece missing: houseparents. Our ministry model is built around couples who feel called to open their hearts and homes to children in need. These houseparents are the heartbeat of what we do, offering structure, love, discipleship, and daily care in a Christ-centered home. Without them, the house remains just a building.
The home is ready. The community is ready. Now we're praying for the right people to step into this calling with us.
This open house wasn't just a celebration. It was a call to action. The New Mexico Baptist Children's Home is looking for churches, families, and individuals who want to be part of something life-changing. Whether through prayer, financial support, or answering the call to serve as houseparents, there's a place for everyone in this story.
Together, we can help rewrite futures, one child, one home, one prayer at a time.
